I have always wanted to know how to draw, to learn the skill of drawing. I was inspired during my working years, while on holiday.…, during a quiet moment,… I would take up the stationary and pen provided in the hotel room and just start to draw my surroundings and/or husband in them. A year or more later, upon happening on these drawings, I was surprised to find myself immediately transported back to that holiday. I was amazed at the effect of these simple drawings. This experience fuelled my desire to do something more. Upon retiring from my 28 year career in the financial industry, I made a conscious decision to give art a go. So, my new life in art started here in Stonewall with just one of those continuing education courses. From here, with encouragement, I joined the Stonewall Art Club. I found a welcoming, supportive environment, totally conducive to learning more. Courses at the WAG were next and finally one of my colleagues from the art club dragged me to an art class in Teulon. After that, I was hooked. First of all, the environment at the Green Acres Art Centre was inviting me to stay and learn..Then, the instructor, Graham Clark, is second to none, in my experience. So, now I have this fabulous life, of drawing, and painting. I have entered juried art shows, exhibited works in the local community, now also belong to the Selkirk GwenFox Gallery. I have to thank my art friends for their encouragement and support, my family and friends for being generous and kind, as well. And then there is my husband, who has been this rock…attending all the art events with me and making these fabulous frames for my paintings. I think they are better than the pictures that they actually frame. Thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoy the show.
