Loretta Basiuk – Loretta’s interest in art began with a U of W art history course, a Medieval and Renaissance art history course in Italy and, subsequently, several years of teaching art to Middle Years students. Her friend and inspiration has been Anthony Steffes, whose influence and workshops have provided steady encouragement and a source of critique. Loretta prefers the variety of working both abstractly and representationally, and favours combining the two. Fascinated by Cubist art and collage, Loretta intends to continue experimenting with art styles that she believes have enduring relevance in expressing present-day life and experience.
